Do you think a research paper on the apocalypse would be a good topic? If not, any suggestions?

I need to read a nonfiction book that could coincide with this paper also.

It COULD be a good topic, if you were, say, comparing fictional apocalypse novels/literature, etc. It really depends on how you go at it. Most of the nonfiction books about apocalypse are usually skewed one way or another, and it would be difficult to find an inpartial nonfiction book on this topic.

Reply:There are too many books, but none agree...the topic is too wide. Perhaps you could do it on something specific like imagery in the apocalypse...
Reply:Not really because nonfiction means true and there are not any true accounts of the apocalypse. You could do something on why people believe in a possible apocalypse. Or you could look at a big natural disaster and see how close that is to accounts of the apocalypse. I am sure there is a bunch of good stuff about hurricanes or volcanoes and that would be nonfictional accounts.
Reply:it would be hard to find the material backing up your claims that werent pure speculation, a good reseaerch paper should be based on cold hard facts, it would make a good paper but not a good research paper
Reply:Interesting topic, but a difficult one, The Apocalypse in one of the most interpreted (and often misused) text in history. There are plenty of books on the subject, but most of them are complete B.S., pardon my French.


If I were to do this, I would probably want to stress the historical aspect: How the Apocalypse came to be seen through different periods, and what different people made of it. It's safer that way - you'll avoid trying to entangle the bizarre "prophecies" the book have inspired that way.
Reply:well.... no, I don't think it's a good topic. Too subjective and opinionated. The research would be very difficult. Try maybe nuclear war or something like that.... more scientific, which is better for a research paper. Good luck!

"THIEF OF TIME" and "SOURCERY" are two Pratchett discworld books that touch upon the Apocalypse, "Teatime of the gods" , the ice giants %26amp; not forgetting horsemen of the Apocalypse.
