I have to write a research paper on something that has to do with my future career as a teacher. Any ideas?

Something that I can do primary research on (like surverys, questionaires, etc.). An example is "Are students motivated when asked to write?"

You could break down the literacy rate between social class levels (of your country), and point out the discrepencies.

You can tie this in with your original question: Are student's motivated when asked to write? If you live in an area where you can visit a school within reasonable proximity of the varying class levels, you could get surveys and questionaires answered at the different schools. You could interview parents, teachers, administration,and the students. Good luck with this project.
Reply:What makes a reluctant reader? Why do certain children not like to read? You could look at reading levels of certain children compare it to how often they were read to at home. You could research a few factors to research the question.

Reply:For my undergrad psyc class I did a paper on the parents level of education and how it related to student success in the classroom (esp. English)
Reply:You could poll teachers of all grades or subjects about all kinds of issues. Get some veteran teachers and ask them how teaching has changed over the past 5, 10, etc. years. Ask how discipline has changed. Ask about different issues they face. Ask if they still teach the same subject/grade that they started out with. Ask if teaching gives them the rewards, either with security, money, emotional, etc. that they originally expected it to give. Ask them if that degree really prepared them for the teaching world and if not, what happened? Ask them if they had to do it all over again, would they? You could compare many, many issues or expand on certain related ones. this would be interesting and fun, I think! (It would probably be a lot different from the ordinary research paper the teacher will read. They usually go for the ones that are unique and original!)
