What constitutes a research paper source?

Okay, well, I've got some sources for a paper, but in order to claim them as sources I do have to actually use a quote from them right? I can't just put them in my works cited and claim them as a source.

Reason I ask more specifically is because my English teacher requires 6 sources, but I'm not sure I can actually find 6 sources to quote.

What constitutes a research paper source?
It doesn't have to be a book, you can use the internet, a person, an article from the newspaper, a magazine, I bet you can come up with 6 if you branch out a little bit. Your teacher would like to know where you found that info and how it pertains to your work. Endless quotes that are not connected to what you are saying are not going to impress. Surf the net and find some of your sources there too.
Reply:Not if you aren't going to use them as a source for your paper. Otherwise it doesn't make sense. Sources are anything that you use to put in your paper. Now if you have the source and you do the research and find it doesn't work for the paper, then don't include it in the works cited. But if you quote from a website or a newspaper, you can do a seperate sheet from the Bibliography, to be sure and tell the teacher where you got that information from. And also make sure that the website is updated, because you may have pulled your source but it might have been updated since then.
Reply:NO you do not have directly quote the source. As long as the source help you gather information about your topic which helped you right your paper

And also try

www.ezbib.com for your works cited page good luck
Reply:yeah, i think if your techer wants proof from online sources or even books, you put a quote. if its(the quote)from a book, dont forget to put the page number.

A works cited is a bibliography.

If you just need to include just your sorces, do a bibliography.

If you're not sure which,(to do a bibliography or just do quotes) ask your teacher.
Reply:Yes you have to actually quote them in your paper. That is what makes works cited different than a bibliography.
Reply:No you don't have to actually include a work to use it as a source. If you used any of the ideas in a work then it is considered a source.
Reply:I would say A source would be anywhere you get A fact from. If I new what the paper was about I might be able to help find A source.
Reply:A source is any written material from which you gathered data to create your paper. It does not have to be a quote, just a source of information for your paper.
