Research paper of 25 000 words, does that include citation or not?

My paper is 292 words over without the citation. Is that excessive

Also, does the word limit include or exclude citations?

Your essay word count excludes citations, bibliography and references.

The rule of thumb for essays and dissertations is that they can be under or over the word count by ten percent. That means you could go over your word count by 2500 words or under by that amount.

Because the ten percent is so much (2500 words) you should check this out with your supervising professor.

I don't think being over by 292 words is excessive.
Reply:Word limits usually exclude citations, otherwise that would be a great way to pad a paper! 292 over is not that excessive, although you may want to re-read your paper to make sure you haven't rambled in any places, that your paragraphs flow smoothly from one to the next, that your paper doesn't jump around from topic to topic, etc. It might be better to make it tighter, I know a lot of professors (especially English profs) appreciate that.
Reply:Usually the limit excludes citations..but check wid ur prof/teacher just to make sure
Reply:That's for your professor to know, not us. You have to ask them.
