I'm doing a research paper, so even a good website address would help!
How did slaves go about going to churches if their "master" didn't want them to? I'm doing a research paper :)
I don't know any good ones specifically but Wikkipedia would be good. Some slaves were allowed to go to church long as there was a sheriff outside the window, making sure the pastor didn't talk abuot freedom or something. Hope this helps! Good luck on your paper.
Reply:That's a complicated question. In South, many times, masters would allow slaves to go with them to church. The sermons in those white churches often focused on the master/slave relationship and how it was the slave's religious duty to follow and obey their masters.
Of course, after these services many slaves attended their own churches. Some slaves bargained their way to free time on Sundays for services or masters saw the services as an appeasement technique. Of course, if the message of the sermon was too radical and got back to the master there would be trouble. So the slave churches often hid their messages in song and what seemed like children's stories.
Whether these services were held varied from master to master from plantation to plantation.
Some books that may help you are Roll Jordan Roll (just get it from a library and skim to find what you need it long), The Strange Career of Jim Crow, Slave Narrative like the Slave Narrative of frederick Douglass may also hold some clues for you, Slave Missions and the Black Churches in the Antebellum South by Janet Duitsman Cornelius is also a good read on the subject. Below are some links to check out they may help you with your project. Best of Luck!

Is it safe to use a wrting service for a research paper?
If so which ones are any good and which sites would guarantee that the paper is free of plagerism. Also has any one tryed the writing service and had success with it?
Is it safe to use a wrting service for a research paper?
That depends upon several things. What are you using the service for? If you right the paper and hire them to type it, that is one thing. Depending upon what your instructor will allow, you might even be able to hire the service to edit for grammar, punctuation and spelling as long as the content of the paper is not altered.
Other than that I do not know. I know of several people who have typed papers for students. But there was nothing typed that was not provided by the student.

Can anyone suggest a top for a history research paper?
I need a topic that is not too broad because it's only a 4 to 5 page paper on ONE article. Also, It has to be US history From after the Civil War until Now.
Can anyone suggest a top for a history research paper?
Go easy like JFK, RFK, MLK or any of the Ks.
Or, since it is election season, the changes in the ideology of Republicans and Democrats post Civil War.
Reply:The topic could be the fighting in Afghanistan that's going on right now.

How to format page numbers for research paper according to MLA format?
I use Microsoft Word 2003 and want to format my paper so that page number 3 actually gets tagged as page number 1. help me!
How to format page numbers for research paper according to MLA format?
I think if you make a section break, just prior to your page three, you can set it up so when you insert your page numbers you can get it to start with page 1 on page three. Just make sure you that if there is a check box for the formating to be the same as the previous section that it is not checked as you want different formatting.
I hope that helps. I have a newer version and am having to do this from memory.

What should I include in my research paper on: AFFIRMATIVE ACTION?
I know I should add how it started. What else should I research for this?
What should I include in my research paper on: AFFIRMATIVE ACTION?
find the stats and figures of the percentage of AA hires who ranked lower in skills and qualifications than other people who applied for the job, then apply those figures to the balance of discrimination, preferred hiring, and 'the best person for the job' "theory"
Reply:The term Affirmative Action was first introduced by JFK about 46 years ago when he was president. In your paper make sure to detail the Bakke v University of California and Brown v Board of education these were two extremely significant supreme court decisions. Quotas, keeping a set number of slots for minorities, are also important. Actually they are no longer allowed in the college admission process after the Bakke case, however they are still used in some work places. Back up your points with examples too. Good luck.

Reply:Have you seen movie? It may help. Library or Bklock Buster should have it. ITS a classic of how times have changed. It is seen mosty through the little girls eyes as she observes her father with different people and on his small town lawyer job. I dont remember why she doesnt have a Mom but she has a housekeeper black lady with girl her age. She observes her Dad being kind to people that need his service and can only pay with garden goods. She learns valuable lessons watching him, and does not realize it. Her Dad realizes it when she befriends the adult retarded man who is kept hidden next door. He actually had been watching and protecting her from a mean drunk man following her in woods home from a halloween party, who was after revenge on her Dad. But she does not know that. Then he gets a big court case that brings out whole town defending a simple black man who was acused of rape. He prooves his innacent, the town people are amazed and some disbelieve a black could not be guilty. his daighter is up stairs in the black section, she had sneaked in when told to stay home, This is in days white and blacks sat different areas in court and I believe it was a all male jury. Another scene is about a gun. A rabid dog comes up street, he gets his gun and puts it down, she is shocked as he has always told her guns are very bad and I dont think she even knew they had a gun. Ive read book and seen movie several times. Ive wondered why they never did a part 2 after she grew up. *mamatx

In a high school research paper, should the thesis statement be the last sentence in the introduction?
This is for a history paper at school. Some people say that it does not have to be the last sentence and that you can present the content of your paper following the thesis. However, at school we were taught that the thesis statement is the last 1 or 2 sentences in the introduction.
In a high school research paper, should the thesis statement be the last sentence in the introduction?
Having it at the end makes the most logical sense. You don't want to jump right in and say it in the first sentence, and it has to be in the introduction. It states the main idea and leads into the next part of the paper, so it should probably go at the end.
Reply:That's the way I remember the guidelines in high school.
Reply:Technically, no. It does not HAVE to be the last sentence of your introduction. The NORMAL (yet not concrete) formula is usually as follows:
Story/quote --%26gt; connector --%26gt;Thesis --%26gt;First paragraph
It's only logical and sensable to have it at the end.
Reply:i belive it should be somewere in the middle not at first so you can explain yor topic and not the end so you can explain your hook im sorry if that did not make sense im so tired
