I am writting a research paper on juvenile delinquency but what can my thesis statement be. Please can somebody help.
Whats a good thesis statement for a juvenile delinquency research paper?
what are you writing? like is it about what they did, or like if they should get out, or what? but i guess
The life of juvenile delinq started like everyone elses. The only thing that went wrong was that they were never loved or have been loved. These kids have never gotten a chance to let the world see what their made of because the world they know is a world of drugs, shooting, and pain. But this can all change with a try snd of some people.
Reply:What is your position going to be? What is your" hook" to get the audience interested. Hint, go for something controversial, even if you don't agree with it 100%
try something like:
Juvenile delinquents are made not born ( if you favor nurture argument) or
Juvenile delinquents are born not made ( if you favore the genetic argument)
Women's rights movement has had an unexpected and disturbing side effect: the increase of female juvenile delinquents.
Every state is drowning in a sea of delinquency, but help programs are few and far between.
Teen bootcamps, panacea or scam? ( choose one, and write the rest of the essay supporting your stand)
It is a scandal that the United States has one of the highest rates of children on death row than anyother first world country. ( don't know if that is still true, but the sentence does catch your attention)
The trick is that a good thesis statement can drive the writing of the rest of your paper. It took me a long time to learn that. I used to write my ideas on 3 by 5 cards( with my paraphrase on the front and source on the back), then sorted them into piles, looked for a pattern to emerge, then wrote my thesis statement last. That is certainly not time efficient, but sometimes I had too much information , or conflicting information, and I really didn't know where I wanted to go in a paper, because it was all interesting. Now that I am older and "wiser" I try to skim the information, write the thesis and then focus on that thesis. However, I still sometimes change my thesis part way through.
In the real world, writing a "thesis" paper may be counter productive. Sometimes we need to know the truth or sutuation, not pick and choose facts to match our preconceived thesis. Sometimes the truth is not clear, nor popular, ... but that is another subject. Good luck.
The following website has all kinds of information about juvenile delinquency and possible prevention. Great source for quotations.
Reply:I strongly believe that Juvenile delinquents are not "bad" because of themselves, but bcuz of the person they are raised by.
