Need arguements to make in a research paper regarding prayer in public schools!?

I am a junior in college, and have a question regarding an argument/research paper i need to write. My topic is: Should mandatory and/or voluntary prayer be permitted in public schools? My possible thesis statement is: Private voluntary prayer should be allowed in public schools.





WHAT are some points/arguments I could make in the paper about this topic? One I have so far is common misconceptions about school prayer, and I was going to talk about the legal aspect of it too. I need quite a few things to talk about because this paper needs to be at least 8 pages. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After 9/11 I spent every morning for a week participating in group prayer around the flag pole in front of the school. Granted it was an extremely emotional time for everyone, no one bothered us and we were respectful to everyone.





I wasn't part of a chrisitan club or anything, it just spread through word of mouth and I participated. But the fact that we weren't prosecuted for anything or felt like we re doing anythign illegal was really nice.

Reply:if prayer is going to be voluntary then the school needs to be equipped with a room for students to do their individual prayers... muslims to pray towards mecca.... for wiccans and pagans to have access to an altar setup... there should be a moment of silence for every individual to reflect on their day and pray in their head... NO WORDS SHOULD BE SPOKEN OUTLOUD... it is not fair to the many different beliefs out there.. i being a pagan dont want to hear a prayer ... as i am sure a christian doesnt want to hear me glorify my GOddess... and i am sure an american fanatic christian doesnt want to see a muslim bending down praising Mohammed...and so forth.... so in short... NO ...NO ...NO..PRAYER IN SCHOOL IS A BIG N O..... NO ....NO ...NO
