this is a financial research paper and i thought i would use prologue because i want my paper to be professional and yet unconventional. thanks in advance.
For my research paper, is it appropriate to use the word "prologue" instead of introduction?
No! Don't try to be fancy and turn your paper into a novel. Professional is not unconventional. Use some graphs or charts if you want to be different. Don't change the language though.
Reply:it sounds like it would be acceptable. I'm also writing a paper but i don't know how you would fit it into /my/your paper. does it make sense in your paper using that word? try a thesaurus
Reply:No. Prologues are in a novel when they clue you in to what happened before so you don't feel totally retarded.
Reply:no...prologue refers to books, so unless you are writing a novel, go with introduction, or foreword
Reply:unless you're referring to a book, no
